On Tuesday, when I went into the daycare, I read a story to the children. I tried picking an interactive book that would keep the focus of the children of mixed ages. (2-4 years old) I read the book Lion Lessons by Jon Agee. It's my second favorite book to read to children. My first is I love Saturdays y Domingos, but that it is for children four years and up. The book Lion Lessons is about a boy who shares his story about how he became a lion in seven steps. It intrigued the children as I explained that we were all going to learn how to become lions. We followed and did the steps together. We stretched, roared, showed our teeth, ran fast, and pounced. The children loved it, especially roaring out loud. During my courses, I have learned that interactive books are a great way to keep children focused. When choosing a book I thought to myself, is it going to grasp children's attention? In the end, I picked a good book everyone loved it, even my CT. My goal is to continue to work with children in keeping them focused and engaged during story time with interactive books. Especially with the two-year-old children, I believe this is great practice for them to sit as they will be doing a lot of that in the future during circle time as they enter school.
